Email is an indispensable communication tool in churches and schools, enabling ministry leaders, staff, volunteers, parents, and parishioners to stay connected. I recently conducted a poll of church workers from all over the United States, asking how many unread emails were in their inboxes. The responses ranged from zero to 106,000! While some are successful at managing their inboxes, others, for various reasons, find the “unread” count creeping up day by day, week by week. 

Technology is advancing at a breakneck pace. New tools are emerging faster than most of us can learn to use them, and it can feel overwhelming—even for those who love tech. In the last year alone, we’ve seen incredible leaps in artificial intelligence (AI), especially with the rise of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT. These tools offer powerful new capabilities, but as with any new technology, they come with challenges and warnings to consider.  

Budget planning in churches is a much different beast than budget planning in the business world—there’s more to account for, and oftentimes a much leaner team to get it all done.
